Some experts say that the gusher from the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico could end up washing crashing waves of black muck into New Orleans. And hurricane season starting today only adds to the level of complexity.
High winds and a rough surf could turn crude oil from the BP oil disaster into a black tidal surge with the potential of covering miles of coastline with a stinking, sticky mess. Clean up could take years.
Yeah it's politically correct to be pissed off at BP, the oil industry, the Coast Guard and president, but in the mean time the Gulf Coast needs your tourism dollars. Don't cancel that vacation or convention just yet. New Orleans has been through some epic disasters, natural & man-made, she will forge on, and in NOLA tradition there will be celebration. Remember there are plenty of attractions and events in New Orleans and around the Gulf. And if the local seafood is impacted, there is still plenty of great regional food to consume. Visit New Orleans and other Gulf Coast towns and show your support!

I'll be down there at the end of October, no matter what! Voodoo and Vampire Film Fest with my father.
